Solar quotations are full of jargon — kWp, PR, DCR, ALMM, string inverter… This plain-language glossary from Sunvera Energy helps you compare quotes like a pro and ask the right questions.
Capacity & Generation Terms
- kWp (kilowatt-peak): your system's rated capacity under standard test conditions.
- Units (kWh): actual energy generated. In central India, 1 kWp ≈ 4–4.5 units/day on average.
- Performance Ratio (PR): real-world output vs. theoretical maximum — 75–80%+ is healthy.
- CUF: capacity utilisation factor, an annualised generation metric.
Component Terms
- Mono PERC / TOPCon: modern high-efficiency panel technologies.
- ALMM: the government's approved list of module manufacturers — mandatory for subsidy.
- String inverter: converts DC from panel "strings" to usable AC.
- ACDB/DCDB: protection boxes on the AC and DC sides — quality here means safety.
Commercial Terms
- Workmanship warranty: covers installation quality — separate from product warranties.
- Performance warranty: panels typically guarantee ~80%+ output even after 25 years.
- AMC: annual maintenance contract for cleaning, inspection and priority service.
Questions That Reveal Quality
- Which exact brands and models are included — and are they ALMM/DCR listed?
- What monthly generation do you commit on paper?
- What does the warranty exclude?
- Who handles net metering and subsidy filing?
A transparent quote has nothing to hide. That's the Sunvera Energy standard.
