The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana pays households a central subsidy of ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third — a maximum of ₹78,000 — on a grid-connected rooftop solar system installed by a registered vendor. Sunvera Energy is registered on the PM Surya Ghar national portal and handles the entire claim for customers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: portal registration, DISCOM feasibility, DCR-panel installation, net-meter inspection and the subsidy request, so the money reaches your bank account typically within 30 days of commissioning.
How much subsidy you get — by system size
The central financial assistance is fixed by system capacity, not by the price you pay. Here is what it means against Sunvera Energy's installed prices in 2026:
| System | Subsidy calculation | Subsidy | Installed price | Your net cost | Monthly generation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 kW | ₹30,000 × 1 | ₹30,000 | ₹75,000–80,000 | ≈ ₹48,000 | 120–130 units |
| 2 kW | ₹30,000 × 2 | ₹60,000 | ₹1,40,000–1,50,000 | ≈ ₹85,000 | 240–260 units |
| 3 kW | ₹60,000 + ₹18,000 | ₹78,000 | ≈ ₹2,00,000 | ≈ ₹1,22,000 | 360–400 units |
| 5 kW | capped at 3 kW | ₹78,000 | ≈ ₹3,00,000 | ≈ ₹2,22,000 | 600–650 units |
| Society common area | ₹18,000 × kW (max 500 kW) | e.g. 25 kW → ₹4,50,000 | ₹12.5–13.5 lakh | ≈ ₹8–9 lakh | 3,000–3,250 units |
The subsidy is paid after commissioning, directly to the applicant's bank account by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy — never to the vendor. You pay the full system price to the installer, and the scheme's concessional loan (up to ₹2 lakh at around 7 per cent for systems up to 3 kW) bridges the gap if needed.
Who is eligible
- Residential consumers with an electricity connection in their own name from MPMKVVCL, MPPKVVCL or CSPDCL. Commercial, industrial and agricultural connections are not eligible (businesses use accelerated depreciation instead; farms use PM-KUSUM for pumps).
- Own roof — a house, or a flat with the society's permission to use roof space. Tenants need the owner to apply.
- On-grid system with a bi-directional net meter. Off-grid and battery-only systems are not covered; hybrid systems qualify for the grid-connected part.
- DCR panels — modules made with Indian-manufactured cells under the Domestic Content Requirement. Non-DCR panels are cheaper but make the system ineligible, which is why every Sunvera PM Surya Ghar quotation names a DCR module from Waaree, Adani or Tata.
- Registered vendor — the installer must appear on the national portal's vendor list for your DISCOM. Sunvera Energy is registered and also works with its partner Anshul Vanguard India Pvt Ltd under the scheme.
- One subsidy per household, and the applicant must not have claimed under an earlier rooftop scheme.
Documents you need
Keep these ready and the application is filed the same day as the survey:
- Latest electricity bill (consumer number must match the applicant)
- Aadhaar card of the applicant
- Bank passbook or cancelled cheque (subsidy is credited here)
- Proof of roof ownership — property papers, registry or house-tax receipt; for flats, a society NOC
- Passport-size photograph
- Mobile number linked to Aadhaar (OTP verification on the portal)
Sunvera scans and uploads everything; you only sign the application and the net-metering agreement.
The process, step by step — what Sunvera does and what you do
| Step | What happens | Who | Typical time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Registration | Account on pmsuryaghar.gov.in with your state, DISCOM, consumer number and mobile | Sunvera, with your OTP | Day 1 |
| 2. Application | System capacity, roof details, documents uploaded; Sunvera selected as vendor | Sunvera | Day 1–2 |
| 3. Feasibility | DISCOM checks sanctioned load and transformer capacity | MPMKVVCL / MPPKVVCL / CSPDCL | 7–15 days |
| 4. Installation | DCR panels, inverter, structure, cabling, earthing | Sunvera | 1–2 days |
| 5. Commissioning upload | Installation details and photos submitted on the portal; net-meter application | Sunvera | Same week |
| 6. Inspection & net meter | DISCOM inspects, fits the bi-directional meter, issues commissioning certificate | DISCOM; Sunvera attends | 1–3 weeks |
| 7. Subsidy request | Bank details and certificate submitted on the portal | Sunvera, you confirm | Same day |
| 8. Credit | Subsidy transferred to your bank account | MNRE | ≈ 30 days |
End to end, most Sunvera customers in Shivpuri, Gwalior, Balaghat and Bilaspur see the subsidy in their account six to ten weeks after the first call.
Common reasons claims get stuck — and how we avoid them
- Consumer name mismatch — the electricity bill is in a parent's or previous owner's name. Fix: transfer the connection first, or apply in that person's name with their bank account.
- Sanctioned load too low — a 3 kW system on a 1 kW connection fails feasibility. Fix: Sunvera files the load-enhancement request with the DISCOM alongside the application.
- Non-DCR panels installed — the inspection rejects the system outright. Fix: Sunvera installs only DCR modules on subsidy projects and keeps the ALMM/DCR certificates in your file.
- Photos or serial numbers not uploaded correctly — the portal needs panel and inverter serial numbers that match the invoice. Fix: our commissioning checklist captures them on site.
- Bank account not seeded with Aadhaar — the transfer bounces. Fix: we check the seeding status before the subsidy request.
Finance for the balance
Under the scheme, public-sector and partner banks offer collateral-free loans up to ₹2,00,000 for systems up to 3 kW at concessional interest, with tenures up to 10 years. Sunvera Energy arranges these through SBI, HDFC Bank, PNB and Bank of Baroda. On a 3 kW system the EMI over seven years is about ₹2,000 a month — usually less than the electricity bill the system replaces — and the ₹78,000 subsidy can be used to prepay part of the loan when it arrives.
Call +91 77103 07937 or visit any Sunvera office — Pichhore (Shivpuri), Gwalior, Balaghat or Bilaspur — with your latest bill and Aadhaar, and the application goes in the same day.
Frequently Asked Questions
₹78,000 — ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts plus ₹18,000 for the third. That is also the maximum for any household, so a 5 kW system receives the same ₹78,000. On Sunvera Energy's 3 kW price of about ₹2,00,000, the net cost is roughly ₹1,22,000.
Yes. Sunvera Energy is registered on the PM Surya Ghar national portal as a vendor, and also works with its partner Anshul Vanguard India Pvt Ltd under the scheme. Installing through a registered vendor is a condition of the subsidy; the vendor is selected on the portal during the application.
Typically around 30 days after the DISCOM installs the net meter and the commissioning certificate is uploaded. The whole journey — application, feasibility, installation, inspection, meter and credit — usually takes six to ten weeks in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
No. The scheme requires DCR modules — panels made with Indian-manufactured cells — and the DISCOM inspection checks the module certificates. Sunvera installs only DCR panels from Waaree, Adani or Tata on subsidy projects. Non-DCR panels are an option only for non-subsidy commercial systems.
Yes. Group housing societies and RWAs get ₹18,000 per kW for a system on the common-area connection — lifts, pumps, lighting — up to 500 kW. The application is made in the society's name, and Sunvera prepares the documents, including the society resolution.
